Pull Up

“Pull-up” describes the behavior of leather that has been treated with oils, waxes, and dyes in such a way that when the leather is pulled or stretched (i.e. on upholstery), the finish becomes lighter in the stretched areas.
BLR Pull-Up leathers come from a remarkable hide; it is natural, unaltered and rugged, yet soft and supple to the touch. Pull-Up leathers require little maintenance since the original ruggedness is amplified with age. The finished leather’s surface opens pores slightly when stretched, to reveal the dye colour which has been fully absorbed by the leather’s fibers, right through the hide. This is a feature of high quality, because this leather has been drum-dyed, for years of correct performance. The surface is then finished coated using applications of aniline dyes, that are impregnated with natural-based oils and/or hot waxes, instead of normal tanning paints and pigments.
Over time, the oil or wax surface tan will polish and burnish with wears, improving the “Pull – Up’s” appearance and feel. This is greatly desired ‘leather patina’ (lived in – aging leather look). It develops from sustained contact with natural body oils and on-going body contact with furniture. “Pull-Up” leathers are particularly responsive to this development as they age and mature beautifully with day-to-day use. BLR “pull-ups” are designed to showcase personality and charm that will only improve with age.

Cautions & Care
-Healed scars and other natural markings will always be visible within these full grain hides
-Fading can occur if exposed to strong sunlight or excessive heat.
-Never use detergents, soaps or chemicals to clean the surface, as they will tend to remove the natural oils in the leather.
-As with any natural leather, spills should be soaked up immediately with a dry cloth and stains can be gently massaged with Pull Up leather cleaner or conditioner.
